Intercepting in football

Intercepting in football is the most common way of getting the ball off your opponents. It allows you to
release the pressure your under by winning the ball back and applying pressure to your opponents.
Most of the time intercepting is mostly all about timing, positioning and quick thinking. To intercept a
pass for example you need to make sure you’ve scanned the surrounding area to make sure when
you try and make the intercepting you haven’t left a gap that the other team can exploit. This is a
main factor as you need to make sure that throughout the game that you have the correct positioning.
Make sure when you try to intercept as a team that you all talk and move as a unit so that you have a
better chance of winning the ball back. Timing is one of the main factor when you are going to make an interception. This is because if you time the interception wrong then you’re allowing your opponent to exploit the gaps that you’ve left in the defense so that they can use it to there advantage. Quick thinking is a good thing to have when you’re about to make an interception. This allows you to be able to see what your opponent is going to do prior to them doing it allowing yourself to move into a suitable position to be able to make the interception.
