Dig in Volleyball

Dig in volleyball

Dig in volleyball,  what is a dig? A dig shot is vital in the defensive part of volleyball, where you prevent the ball from hitting the ground after your opponent has performed an attacking shot against you. This shot is performed by anticipating your opponents spike/attacking shot, before it has taken place this helps to keep your team in play and to not lose the point this is being played by either throwing yourself or waiting for the ball to come to you. Make sure your head is inline with the ball when going to perform the shot. Make sure your body is also inline with the ball when you’re going to perform the shot. Place your arms out straight in a locked position and make sure when you connect with the ball your arms are straight and not bent of the shot won’t be performed correctly. Make sure your hands are in a clasped position also. Have your chest beneath the ball and engage the chest during the shot, have your hips braced and your knees bent to create power and lift on the ball when playing the shot. And finally have your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart to create a balanced core.
